AR-15......14.5" vs 16" barrel
I want to order a Bushmaster AR-15 with a Collapsable Stock and a Flash Hider/Suppressor.
The 14.5 barrel with the Flash Hider/Suppressor will make it of Legal Length.
My question is;
What kind of perfomance difference will I get out of these two barrels at 300 meters with one of the barrels being an Inch and a Half Shorter then the other?

Bushmaster cannot sell you an AR-15, since that is a Colt trademark. 0 -
but when he called it an AR-15 us unlearned types knew what he was talking about [:D] 0 -
JudgeColt;
Go here and type in AR-15.
There are 5 Pages of People you can correct.

Also make sure you only call Facial Tissue Kleenex if it is actually made by Kleenex. Otherwise nobody will know what you are talking about.

the only difference between the 14.5 and 16 barrels is that with the 14.5 you will need to get any break or flash suppressor permanently attached, if you get a 16 you can have a threaded barrel which will allow for manual changing for brakes/flash suppressors, or even silencers if they are legal in your state 0 -
RN, why am I criticized for stating a fact? Just because many make the same mistake, does not make it right. I always buy Kleenex, and, if I order Kleenex, I do not expect to get Puffs. I do not expect to receive a Pepsi-Cola when I order a Coca-Cola either.
Yes, I know that it is common to misuse the "AR-15" name, but that does not make it right. It becomes very important when the term "AR-15" is used alone with no maker mentioned. If an "AR-15" is advertised, it should be a Colt. Say what you mean, and mean what you say.0 -

Because you didn't answer his question, but instead flamed his post. Now you are playing the hurt and innocent party.
But that's just my guess.
Next time if you just HAVE to interject something off topic and critical in someone else's thread who is asking a legitamate and honest question - don't - instead make your own post about how you hate the world for calling a copy a Xerox.
Or, if you insist on being critical to someone's question at least be constructive first, before being destructive; that is, at least answer the fellow's question before you criticize his use of the term AR-15.

black_adder2;
Thank You for backing me up on this. [:D] [:D] [8D]
I thought more people would understand AR-15 as opposed to M4/A3.

Stop it! All of you! I don't care who started it! I want ALL of you to take a time out! NOW, GO TO YOUR ROOMS THIS INSTANT!
Now, to answer the original question.
RN, a short barreled AR-type rifle is not appropriate for accurate shooting at 300 meters. SWAT teams & bodyguards find their short length handy, but they are not accurate much beyond 100 meters. Look at the catalogs of all AR-type manufacturers: all produce "match" & "competition" barrels suitable for 300 meter shooting, but these are always longer & heavier than the barrels you are considering. I have been to competitions; NO ONE uses a short barreled AR-type rifle. Buy what you want, just don't have unrealistic expectations of long range accuracy.

I've decided on the 16'barrel threaded with a Votex Suppressor not Silver Soldered on.
20" is to long for my purposes.
