Howdy gang! It's me again. Thanks for all the replies on the other thread. While digging around at some of the sites mentioned earlier I came across these two rifles at J&G Sales. So once again, being totally new to this, I ask for thoughts on the rifles. Also, one or two other questions. First, what does "C&R eligible" mean? Second, I'm currently working in Kuwait and will be buying these guns online and having my wife pick them up for me. Will there be a problem with me ordering them and her picking them up from a local FFL? Make that three questions, how does the FFL information get exchanged? At J&G sales it says that a faxed copy of the FFL is not acceptable so I'm curious as to what the process is of verifying FFL's from one dealer to another other than regular U.S. mail.

Russian M-91/30 Moisin, Arsenal rebuild. Excellent condition, WWII era military rifles in the 7.62x54R caliber. With accessories. C&R eligible.

Russian M-44 Moisin Rifle. Excellent condition, WWII era military rifles in the 7.62x54R caliber. Includes side folding bayonet. Arsenal refinish, with accessories. C&R eligible.

    first, C&R is Curio and Relic--meaning that the weapon is old enough to qualify as (sort of) an antique, so it might take more than just a simple FFL to get the gun (you might need a C&R license also). second, I think it depends on the state in which your wife lives if they will have a problem with her picking them up instead of you, but Im not sure. lastly, Im not sure how the FFL transfer works, Im only eighteen, and not to great at online auctioning [xx(]

    A person can get a C&R license, which is easier to get than a regular FFL.
    So, if a rifle is C&R eligible, person with only a C&R license may buy it, or a person with an FFL may buy it. C&R weapons must be old, I believe the cutoff is they must be at least 50 years old.

    A collector with a C&R can buy a C&R-eligible gun anywhere in the US, or have it shipped directly to himself from any dealer or individual in the US, as long as this transaction is legal in his home state. The definition of a C&R, as well as requirements for getting one & the procedure for using it, can be found at www.atf.treas.gov. Basicly you need to send ATF your photo, fingerprints, & $20 every 3 years, & they will issue a license after running a background check. If you don't have a C&R & want to buy the guns you named, you must have them shipped to a dealer in your home state, & pay him a fee for handling the transaction.

    No, your wife cannot do any firearms transaction "for" you. However, if SHE wants to order a gun, & SHE wants to pick it up at the local dealer, & SHE wants to complete all paperwork, & SHE wants to be the legal owner, & she isn't buying it for someone who is legally unable to buy a gun for himself, & there is no one in the household forbidden access to a gun, she can buy a gun & let anyone in her household use it.

    Boy you got more than you bargained for.

    C&R obviously you are not one, too much verbage but now you know.

    Tell your wife to hook up with your best gun dealer and bring money.
    He will help her get the signed hardcopy and money to the seller and the gun to her (unless she is a felon or other black mark)

    NOW my 2 cents. There are a lot of Mosin rifles on the market, the
    -91 and -44 are different lengths et. al. Shop carefully.
    One of the few I picked up is now a nice floor lamp... it was operational (I fired it once via remote line) but it was very crappy. I have 2 that are good specimens and shooters.

    Ahhhh, gotcha. Thanks Mark. Time to call the wife and have her make the arrangements. The reason I'm asking all the questions is that, (as noted I am out of the country), is that I want to purchase the guns in the next few days and have them waiting for me when I get home in November instead of waiting until I get there and then having to wait for them to be shipped to me. My time home will be limited to begin with and I would like to get as much range time in as I can before coming back over here. Thanks for all the info guys! [:D]
