expiration of gun ban

With the expiration iminent can we add the evil items to ban era weapons?

    Don't want a "newby" to feel insulted and ignored,...after all you might turn out to be a "good-un", but, I don't quite catch the phrazing of the question,...but then, I'm often so far out in left field,...I don't even comprehend what a "era weapon" is.
    I just read it again and can't come up with the meaning.
    Try again and I'll bet somebody will be glad to offer their opinion.

    I have the same question. I think he meant: If I bought a Bushmaster 2 years ago during the ban, can I now put a collapsible stock on it and be legal? If the ban comes back would I have to take it off again or would all banned items be allowed and only new guns bought after the date of the new ban (if that happens) be affected. Hope that is better.

    Slugo, What do you consider "evil items"??? Bayonet lug??? Haven't read anything in the news, pre-ban or not, about anyone being injured with an attached bayonet.

    It looks like this will be a daily question for the next few years. We could add it to the FAQ list, if we had a FAQ list.

    Expiration of the ban means that you can add things such as a flash suppressor, bayonet lug, pistol grip, &/or folding or telescoping stock to any US-made rifle, & some imported rifles. The prohibition against "assault shotguns" & "assault pistols" is also lifted. All of the above apply to federal law; if state/local law prohibit them, that's still in effect.

    Remember, there's nothing intrinsically valuable about any banned feature (other than hi-capacity mags.) No one has a need for a flash suppressor or bayonet lug; telescoping stocks are detrimental to accurate shots, as they are too short & you can't get a cheek weld. The only reason people wanted guns with these features is because Congress said that they couldn't have them! So, now that you can have them again, who cares? If you just like the looks of them, fine, but understand that they don't give you a better gun.

    No one knows if the price of pre-ban guns will change. Personally, I think that those in 99% or better condition will hold their value, & eventually go even higher. They will never make "pre-ban" guns again, & Colt certainly will never produce another AR-15 for civilian sale. If you think that a gun that looks like the original is worth the same, I will buy all the mint 1st gen Colt SAA's that you can find for $1,200.
