Fn Fal Advice

Hello Ya'll
I am suspose to go look at a fn-fal a guy has for sale.Could someone please educate me a little on them. What versions are out thier and what is a good price to pay for one? I know thier is the original fn and dsa makes one. Are thier any others i should know about and stay away from. I don't want to walk into this deal blind. Thankyou Beltfed

  better than 90% of what is out there are parts kit guns. You are simply buying it for the parts value as they have no collectablity. If the rec is marked century odds are you are looking at a $300-400 Frankenfal, unless it is also marked IMBEL in which case it is a good quality reciever. Like anything else bore condition, and finish are important. You also want to make sure that it has the required number of US made parts to comply with the 89 bush ban. Should be 7. Many backyard builders didn't use the compliance parts.

  Most of the various FAL's from Century were crappy. The ones built on Imbel receivers can be really good shooters. DSArms makes some outstanding rifles. There's quite a variety out there.

  The above info on the Imbel made receivers is right on. I have never had a problem with weapons using those FN licenced receivers.
  
  Avoid inch pattern weapons and Israeli pattern weapons simply because 90% of the FAL's in the world are metric. The wealth of parts available (not that they break!) are for metric weapons. All the cool Belgium stuff is metric.
