Benelli question

How's everyone been doing ?

I have a friend who I work with that has bought a Benelli SBE 28" 3.5 mag shotgun.

His question is this : Has had the barrel checked and it is a .721.
Is this a good waterfowl barrel ? ( Bigger bore better shooting or has he been fed a bunch of Bull hockey )

    I am in the market for a new shotgun. Looking at the Benelli Super Black Eagle II or the M2 Field model. Question: is the only difference between the two is that the SBE can use 3.5" or is there other differences between the two? The difference in price is not enough to make me go one way or the other. I mainly use the shotgun for upland birds. Should I get the 3.5 in case I start duck/turkey hunting or will the 3" suffice? Thanks.

    If you get the 3 ? inch, you will always have the choice.
    If you get the 3 inch, you never will.

    The gene pool needs chlorine.

    The 3" model should satisfy all of your needs. I've shot plenty of ducks with my M1 Super 90. It swings like a dream. I find that it is a little lighter than the SBE also. Something to keep in mind for those long walks afield. You can't go wrong with either one though.

    The internal operating parts on the 2 models are pretty much the same.
    I have a SBE camo and it works great for doves, ducks, and geese.
    If you think you might want to go out for geese I would suggest getting the SBE as it will handle any length shell you put in it.

    One of the nice features of Benelli's is their enertia recoil system that allows their shotguns to handle any mix of shell lengths with no problems.

    I agree with Pickenup... Get the capability and then you'll always have it. Like that old addage: "'tis better to have and not to need than to need and not to have".

    I've had my SBE since 1994 (when HK was the importer) and it has performed flawlessly as long as I use at least 1 1/8 oz shells in it. Luckily, even cheap skeet loads are even available in this loading so it can be shot cheaply too.

    I've liked the Benelli (and it's capabilities) so much that I have sold EVERY other 12 gauge shotgun I had and that included some fine doubles too. I just never shot them with the SBE in the safe.

    the only thing I can say about the M1 Field I had is that it kicked worst than a darn mule , hardest darn kicking gun I've ever shot , 12ga. Winchester Supreme 3" trukey loads 10 rounds and that gun was gone in a trade to some one else [xx(]

    I tend to agree with Bambihunter that get more than you need. I have shot my SBE 3 1/2in in one day spending 4 boxes of 31/2 supermagnum shells and I didn't feel a damn thing on my shoulder and mind you, I am a small guy 5ft5in, 125lb. If I can handle it so can anyone! ha,ha.[:I]
