Ruger Ranch Rifle w/red dot?

Picked up a Ranch Rifle at a Gun show and am thinking about a red dot scope/sight for it. I'll be plinking and playing with it, if I want tight groups, I'll go with my bolt gun. Anyone have experience with red dots on Ranch Rifles?

  A great set-up for plinking or for pest control on a 22 LR semi-auto (makes for fast action,...so be safe about it).

  Thanks for the encouragement, I stuck one on the rifle today, but haven't shot it yet. Tomorrow I'm gonna make a LOT of noise out back of the barn![:p]
