old revolver value?
I found an old gun in a friends attic and was wondering if anyone could help me to determine its value?
It is a small 7 shot revolver, 22 short, hex barrel which reads: Whitney Armory CT USA PAT May 23 1871, with these numbers stamped on the bottom of the frame: 6741A.
I appreciate any input, thank you.

According to "Flayderman's Guide" the revolver you found was a "Model 1" Whitney Rimfire. They were made between 1871 & 1879, with a total of app. 3,500 manufactured.
Value would depend on condition and originality, i.e. the closer it is in the condition it left the Whitney factory, the more value. Flayderman values them between $100 & $425, depending on variation and condition.

Welcome to the forum. The Whitney arms Co. made alot of different varaitions of the seven shot rim fire you found. None of which appear to hold high values. Most are valued around $50.00 for poor to 300.00 for excellent specimens. More info and good pic's would be a great help. Good luck with it. Sounds like a neat find.[8D]
