00 buck thru a rifled barrel

Is shooting 00 buck thru a rifled barrel an unsafe idea for very rare occassions like home defence?

  You can do it. It just spreads out really fast, and could lead up the barrel. I would not suggest doing it very often, however, if it is life and death, I would not worry about the barrel being leaded up. What ever you shoot at, better be real close to the end of the barrel, 10-15 yards I would guess is max.
