A rifled barrel for your Mossberg is relatively inexpensive, so I'd vote for that.

Any excuse to buy another gun always works for me....

One thing about Mossberg barrels, the rear sight is hinged, and WILL fall every time you pull the trigger.

I've never had a problem w/ the sight falling off a Mossberg, but unless you find yourself a good buy ... the price of a slug barrel will be about the same as the single shot alternative your thinking about, maybe even a little more expensive as I see these "one-shooters" at some of the gun shows going for as low as $65-75.

If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!

contender man, I did not mean that they fall off the barrel, I have had several and they all had the hinged rear sight, every time I shot the barrel, the hinged closed (sight fell to the barrel, hard to get the secong shot off without the sight standing)

Muss ... did mis-read your post. However, I haven't had a problem with the sights collapsing either. Maybe I'm just lucky, but mine are stiff as a board, you have to put the pressure to 'em to fold them over.
