6mm remington
How many shots should a 6mm remington last?, before my gun used to group good, i don't think the barrel is super old either...i shoot maybe a box a month a little more a less sometimes and the rifling looks good, how do i know if the barrel is shot out?...it groups 1 if i try super hard, and some flyers ever now and then, and it usally groups around 1 1/2'' at 50 yards now...

It sounds like something has changed with your rifle. First thing I would look at is action screws should be firmly tight but not crushing the wood then se if wood has warped and pressing on only one side of barrel. If that fails I would clean barrel and use some JB bore cleaner ibet barrel is fouled and not realy clean. Then Check scope mounts and try other brands of ammo. 0 -
yeah i took apart the whole rifle, then put it back together, the action screws are snug but not tight, can i tighten them down pretty tight, the action and barrel is bedded 0 -
I agree with Perry... Something likely changed because the 6mm fired with factory level loads should last a lifetime with proper care and cooling time between shots.
If everything seems tight then you might drop a different scope on it. I've seen scopes that will jump around some that have to be sent in for repair exhibit those exact traits.0 -
I recently encountered the same thing with my old 722 in 308. I cleaned the barrel as all else is fine, no improvement. Then I bought and used a can of Wipe-Out Brushless Bore Cleaner and applied it 5 times at 24 hour intervals. Rifle is once again shooting fine.
If this condition has cropped up just recently, check your muzzle for any "dings" on the edge of the bore; this can cause your groups to open up suddenly. I have seen this a lot with people who carry chains on the floorboard of their truck and then put a rifle muzzle down against the floor and thereby ding the crown.0
