Slug barrel question

I just bought a slug barrel for my A5 browning it has rifling in the barrel my question is. Can I shoot slugs or just sabot ammo through this barrel?

    I just bought a rifled slug barrel from the auction side for one of my 870 12ga. WingMasters. This shotgun is drilled and tapped and I have a 2.5-8x36 Simmons on it. My question is this, can I have the non-ajustable iron rifle sights removed from the barrel without effecting the tempering of the steel barrel. if this is possible I would then have a beed put on it, because I would rarely if ever use it without the scope. I do not want to use veiw thru scope rings. Thanks for the help.

    You can shoot rifled slugs through a rifled barrel...but you won't like the mess it leaves. Rifling twist on the slug and barrel don't match, lead will be shaved off the slug filling the grooves of the barrel rifling. Unless you enjoy hours of cleaning...stick with saboted slugs.

    Try some Lightfield HY-BRED sabot slugs, they are 1 1/4 oz and are the most accurate slugs I have found, with my 21 inch rifled barrell I can consistantly have cloverleaf groups at 100 yds., good luck...

    Those that have been on this forum for some time know that shotguns - especially older ones are my thing. Shotguns are still one of the most versatile firearms every made. If you have a "rifled" barreled shotgun, then go to www.dixieslugs.com. These are the most powerful, the most accruate, and the greatest penetrating slugs that I have ever seen. I use a Remington 870 with a Hastings rifled barrel that has been epoxed into the frame ---- I have no intentions of changing the barrel on this shotgun. With optical sights, you can shoot "clover-leafs" at 100 yards. Leading is a nonexistance problem with these slugs as far as I am concerned.
