Can anyone tell me how to remove a cracked butt plate of Remington Nylon so I can replace it?

Good question. I've never seen sling studs on a Nylon 66 before.

I would check with your local gunsmith. Im sure he can rig up something for you.

God gave us all a gift. Have you found yours yet ?

I once saw a template..put out by remington... that identified the precise location of the internal bosses that provide enough "meat" to drill and mount sling swivels on the zytel stock... I'll have to look around and see if I can locate a copy... snake803@juno.com ...

It has been my experience that one of the more knowlegable folks on that rifle is Shelby (bbq05). If it were me, I'd go to one of his gunbroker auction lots and ask him the question. He can tell you a whole lot about that "Nylon" Remington.

Hello, I have done that job on Nylon (Zytel, Resin, etc) stocks. As said before locate where the studs goes and check how thick is the zone for drilling.
Once done this, choose a drill about 1/3 less in diameter than the intented stud thread diameter you will use.
Accuratelly drill the hole square respect to the surface and screw the studs in, nylon plastics are really tough for these uses.
Finally enjoy your work placing a nice sling at your choice.
    Good Luck.

I have also seen special Uncle Mike's swivels just for nylons. Both thread into the stock with a finer thread and the studs are shorter. I can't remember which auction site I've seen them on.

    ....I never met a gun I didn't like!
