Wm. Parkhurst Shotgun
My Dad has a Wm. Parkhurst Shotgun that belonged to his mother. Dad was born in 1927 - not sure about his mom. So I am guessing the gun is at least 80 - 100 years old. I can't find much information on it - please help! I would like to know how old it might be, and the value of it.
Thanks,

My reference shows it to be a Damascus barreled shotgun made in Belgium. If this is what your shotgun is, it has minimal collectors value and would be unsafe to shoot because of the Damascus barrels.
To be sure, post quality close-up pictures of the proof marks on the barrels and water table ( flat surface the barrels rest on). Or give us a concise description of the markings.

'Wm Parkhurst' shotguns were made in Belgium by Dumoulin from the late 1880's until just after 1900. This is a good representative example of one of the many 'hardware store guns' imported during that period to satisfy growing American demand for inexpensive hunting/farm guns.
It's value today, in typical condition, is uniformly low - pretty much wall-hanger value of well under $200. It is NOT a shooter with any type of modern smokeless ammunition. If the gun is in exceptional condition you might find a few oddball collectors (ahem) willing to pay a little more.

Good Afternoon Kay: and welcome to the Ask the Experts Forum and becoming a member of the >gunbroker.com> family...
Sorry to say, but the Guys are correct about your PARKHURST shotgun..If its absolutly Pristine You might get $300.00 from someone to hang on the Mantle over the fireplace...There's always the outside possibility that some Cowboy Action Shooter might be interested...I'm sure that in Bakersfield there's a Group of CAS's somewhere...Find a Local Gun Shop and ask them...I realize that You did'nt imply or express any desire to sell it....But the best way to price something is to let the World know you it...and let them set a value....You need not sell it....but if the Right Offer comes along....You might change your mind.....best......
