Stevens 520 16 ga
I have a Stevens Model 520 16 gauge pump shotgun. The receiver is has Ranger stamped on the side. The barrel and receiver are stamped with a 10. Is there a way to date the gun based on the serial number? Also, does anyone know where I can get an exploded drawing of the gun and some history on it?
Thanks.
Matt

The Stevens Model 520 was designed by John Browning. It dates to the first decade of the 20th Century, and was made until the 1940's. This was years after Savage bought Stevens out. It was a quite popular model until it was replaced by the Model 620. I'm not aware of any way of dating the old Stevens's by serial number.
Here is a IPB for the Stevens.

Matt29, does your shotgun have a small stamped engraving on the receiver of a man riding a horse? If so, it is an early manufacture for Sears prior to 1930.
