    Hello HN...

Sounds like a real nice Winchester[^] (I have one just like it made in 1907).

Based on the serial number, your TD Sporting Rifle was manufactured circa 1911/1912.

Winchester (I believe) offered the Takedown variant of their various rifle models for two reasons... (1) ease of bore cleaning and (2) as you put it, compact for travel capability.

As for a value estimate, it is worth a minimum of about $1200, and depending on how much of the original factory bluing is still on the frame, it could easily hit the $2000 mark.

    BH,

Thanks for the info. The takedown is a real conversation piece around here.

BTW, any suggestions about some type of cleaner to remove the years of oil and dirt from the forearm to restore the lustre of the walnut without hurting it?

Thanks again, I'm now hooked on the older Winchesters.

    Hello HN,

Any decent quality wood furniture cleaner/polish will work perfectly fine to clean the stocks. I use plain old Lemon Pledge on mine.
