whats a good length for hi standard match 22 bbl?
to help metaphores question on the '101 post'...that gun looks like it was set up for metallic silloette(sp?) also notice....ALL the wt is forward of the trigger. that means the wt of the bbl AND the scope AND mount are out there, just waiting to tire your arm out if you hold it one arm. met silo allows for two hand hold, so wt doesnt matter. but for 600.00 that is a good price w/ the extra bbl. aftermarket bbls on a hi std? what made hi standard so good WAS the bbl! they are button swaged rifling and extremley accurate. gun parts sells 5.5" bbls for around 99.00. a front sight is 15.00. the bbl plunger and pin is 12.00.. as you are starting to see, there are a lot of hi std options out there. some are stock, and some have been customized by advanced shooters. unless you are puttng them in the same hole, or, competing against those that can, you wont need any do-dads yet. a stock gun will wipe the line and seperate the beginners from the boys.

Hello Bobski has it right and I would like to add to a comment on the 101 post.Every shooter has to find what works for them. As I get older I also get shaky short barrels 5.5 inch appear steady compared with 7.5 inch barrel when useing IRON sights. After testing many barrels in RANSOM REST both lenghts shoot better then we can hold. When the barrel has a RED DOT sight mounted on it lenght becomes a MOOT point. Along this same line on a red dot scope if you have a steady hold a small "2MIN." dot looks OK but if your hold has some tremor you might want to try 8 MIN or even 12 MIN dot. There are some very good tapes on bulls-eye shooting available. and Camp Perry has a small arms fireing school every year before the national matches. quote:"PRAISE THE HARD BALL GUN" 0
