They are not going for anywhere near what they should be. Heck a box of ammo is better than $50 now and I'm tiered of hearing the "Urban Myth" about ammo mfg. resuming ...

At this writing there are 2 rifles here on GB, both at less than $200 and NO Takers!

You have a very good rifle and the 5mm Rem. is/was a great cartridge that was way ahead of it's time ... however w/o a reasonably priced supply of ammo there is little interest, especially now with the 17 rimfires and the Ruger 204 ...

If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!

There is a company (or 2) out there that is doing a centerfire conversion of those rifles (sorry don't have a link). As I understand it, the cartridge used is basicly a 5mm/22Hornet wildcat.

Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.

Tailgunner ... your right. I forgot to mention that and that there is on for auction right now of GB with dies, etc.

However, the price to convert or buy one already converted is in the neighborhood of buying a 17 hmr or a 204 and these probably appeal to a lot more folks as they don't have to do a cartridge conversion and loading operation ... just go to the store and plunk down the $$$

If I didn't have 5mm barrels for my TC's and a small cache of ammo I'd be tempted to buy the listed conversion. Also, I've often thought about looking into the conversion aspects for the Contender, but have never seemed to get around to it. Should be pretty easy as there would be no bolt modification. Now that it's on my mind, providing I can hold the thought ... I should check it out.
