Hensoldt Scope Value?
A friend has a 6X-42mm scope marked "Hensoldt Wetzar Diatal-D". Any idea of its value? Condition is excellent. In advance, thanks!

A friend of mine has a Hensoldt 6X with a 42mm Obj.Diameter and 26mm tube manufactured in the 1950's. It has wording which reads "Hensoldt-Wetziar Diatal-D and has a Serial Number of 148XXX. It's in fine condition. Any idea of its value? 0 -
Stroebal's, scope book notes that were sold from the late 50's to the late 60's, and values them between $250 & $325. The book is 4 years old, so the scope might have increased in value?

The value will be determined by someone who wants to collect it. Any given day may make you a mint,..or somewhere in the figures Rufe-snow has provided. The advances in optics in the last 10yrs +/- have been superb,...which greatly de-values older optics (even by Hensoldt). Try the auctions with a reserve of Rufe-snow's low price,..and you will at least get that much for it.
why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

I do believe that Hensoldt is mainly for the military - at least in Europe. It's a great quality unlike anything you can get today.
If it says Waterproof.. IT IS.!
I believe Hensoldt is a part of Zeiss now - or was.
Saw an old Zeiss binocular - it said Waterproof - it was raised with a submarine from a depth around 110feet and had been there since WW2.
So if I remember correctly - it was there for 34 years when it was raised.
Not a single spot of moisture inside - no leakage whatsoever.
Don't do anything that I've allready done - That'd be just plain STOOOOOOPID.0
