Another question on 7.62 ammo????
Just curious. I've seen ammo listed as 7.62, 7.63 and 7.65 Which is correct? or Are all correct? Why? There is only .0011" difference between the 7.62 and 7.65. What gives? Just a mistake by the lister?

Powder- At times there appears very little rhyme nor reason to the designation of cartridges!!! You would serve yourself well by getting a copy of "Cartridges of the World".

These nominal bore dimensions apply across a broad range of cartridges. Yes, if the numbers were correct, there would be only 0.011" difference across that range. But market differentiation reigns. Think .30 WCF, .300 Win Mag, .303 Savage, .307 Winchester and .308 Winchester - all take .308" bullets. Add only another .005" to the upper side of that and you can include the .303 British and .32-20 WCF, among others. The individual(s) are simply using the designations - logical or not - by which the cartridges are generally known.

7.62x51, 7.62x54, 7.62x39, 7.62x63 are all different.
7.65 could refer to 7.65x53 Arg or to a 32ACP.
7.63 may be the 7.63 Mauser.
OR........it could be a mistake.......
