Martini-Henry Action Pistol?

I recently acquired a rather unusual pistol that has a Martini-Henry type action. It's about 8" in length, heavy (about 4.5 lbs), made of brass/steel and appears to be slightly larger than .45 caliber. The underlever surrounds the lower portion of the grip when in the closed action position. Without a doubt, it was handmade. It has been suggested to be a "Kyber Pass Special" from Afghanistan, but this has not been confirmed. It does not appear to be a cut down rifle, as the shape indicates otherwise. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I haven't figured out how to post an image here, but I will when I can. Any comments, or suggestions as to what it may be will be appreciated.

    The other day at the Chehalis gun show, I purchased a pistol that matches the description of yours. It's a Martini action in .303 caliber. I've taken it apart to examine it and concluded it is NOT a converted rifle. There are not any idendtifying manufacturer marks or proof marks. Merely a serial number (#538). Mechanically its in good shape, and a .303 round locks-up tight.

    The seller told me it was a "bring-back" that was given to him from his Russian friend who happen to be in Egypt when Russia was active in the middle east. I also wondered if this was a "Khyber Pass Copy", but found no mention of a "Martini copy PISTIOL" (although plenty of rifles seem to exist). I really like the pistol. Lots of character. But I would sure like to find out more about this before I shoot it. I welcome any input you might have. Thank you.

    I never recieved any photos of this Gun....Looking at the posting date...back in 04....I think it was when I was having Computer problems......If You would.....I'd like to see it.......Best.....

    I have the same basic firearm only in 22 jet may have been rebarreled tks hedge

    Sorry for taking so long to respond. My computer monitor died the day after my last posting. I'm back in action again and will try and post some pictures of the off Martini pistol this weekend.
