Lee Classic or Rockchucker?

I want to get into reloading for two of my rifles, mainly, (30.06 Spr. 30-30 Win ).
I know this question has been asked 1000's of times ,but, this site's search engine really misfires on my computer. So..., Lee Classic or RCBS Rockchucker? I just want a single stage press. There are two more OPINIONS I would like, Is a 1/10 grain powder scale good enough, and, what is a good, inexpensive, case trimmer ya'll like ?

    Rockchuker press, RCBS scale is fine, and Lyman case trimmer.

    I've owned a Rockchucker for years, do most of my reloading with it, ditto for Lee, used their presses and other reloading equipment for years.

    RCBS & Lee products will both turn out excellent quality reloads, as long as you know what your doing. It's the nut pulling the handle that makes all the difference.

    Be that as it may, Lee products are less expensive then RCBS. Even though they are equivalent in quality, "AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED".

    Own both, still use both (setup for different tasks) and have no complaints about either. Both companies have good warranty and customer service operations. RCBS is a little more expensive though.

    1/10 gr. scale will work

    Really anyone's case trimmer will work for you. Check Midway's online catalog.

    I own and use a Dillion 550, Lee Turrent Press, and Lee' bottom of the line reloader press.

    I have had excellent service from all of the above pieces of equipment. Never lost a reloading session to breakage.

    My opinion would be to buy the Lee because with the Lee setup you will have more money left in your pocket and ammo just as good as you could load.

    A 0.10 grain powder scale is more than adequate. Precision beyond 0.10 grains really cost some coin.

    I have used Lee case trimmers and the Lyman case trimmer. The Lee works fine but it is more labor intensive and hard on my hands. The Lyman on the other hand is easy to use and is expandable for whatever you may need to reload. It is frustrating getting the case length dialed in but it works well.

    The cheap Lee scale actually goes to .05 grains.

    You do not mention a powder dispenser (or dumper). It is certainly faster than weighing every charge, and when set up well it will dump uniform charges. Depending on what I am loading, I may not weigh every charge. When loading 44 mag with the bulky IMR powders, I will set my powder dispenser (using the scale) to dump the desired charge. I have had good luck with a Lyman dispenser, particularly with the more bulky powders (like you will probably use with '06 and 30/30). When loading some lighter pistol rounds with the faster powders (say a 4 gr. charge), there can be some variation in loads if each one is dumped and then weighed to check it (a 4.1 or a 3.9 now and then), but this has not shown up in my off-hand shooting.

    Enjoy finding that 'sweet' load that each gun likes.

    I will be building my inventory up soon, and being an experimenter, I will find that "sweet load"...

    By the way, I changed my signature phrase - I like this one better...


    How come, there is never enough time to do it right, but, always enough time to do it over?

    I'd like to ditto what zr700 said, but you asked about Lee or RCBS. RCBS, without any doubt. The Rockchucker is built like a tank. It will last a lifetime.I've had two Lee presses, sold 'em both.
    Besides the Dillon, I currently have a Lyman, a Redding, RCBS( not a rockchucker), and an old Herter's. Any of these will load anything short of 50 BMG, and do it well. Never tried a LEE scale, but I have had good luck with a Lyman and an RCBS.
    I also use a Redding powder measure. I load my hunting ammo to near Maximum, so I weigh EVERY load. Want to keep that .458 INSIDE the rifle, until it gets to the end of the barrel!!! LOL
    BTW, welcome to the wonderful world of reloading. You will find that there is always some new gadget or device to take your money. It's like an addiction.
    If you watch garage sales, estate sales, etc; you can find good deals on lots of reloading equipment.
