trigger action????

I am very new to the cool hobby so any help that
can be provided is greatly appreciated. I recv'd a
Savage Arms Model 1914 .22 rifle from my father. I
noticed something I consider dangerous with the trigger
action. If I hold the trigger down and operate the pump
to load the next round the hammer does not stay locked
in the ready to fire position which means that if I
operate the pump hard I will discharge a round. The
question is that normal for that year and model? That
also leads me to my next question. Where or how do I
locate part?

  Hello on a number of both pump shot guns and rifles You can hold the trigger and each time the action closes the gun will fire. Colt Lightnings and Winchester model 97 are two that come to mine but there are many more. Just remove your finger from trigger before working the action quote:"PRAISE THE HARDBALL GUN"

  even bolt action rifles exibit this. Don't hold the trigger while working the rifle action. DO this when you store the gun and it is unloaded,..it will help to maintain the integrity of your firing pin if it is released before storage and not being compressed for extended periods.
  
  why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....
