Old kids Winchester early 1900s

I just got this old Winchester from my grandfather, who recieved it when he was 10 years old, and only fired it once in his life time. He is now 87. On the barrel, it sais the patent is 1899, and its a .9 MM. My grandfather had done some research, and sais its a 36 model, its not serial numbered, its from 1921-1929, and only 25,781 were made. Im not real sure about his info, but it could be true. the wood(I hit a blank, I know what it is) has scratch marks as if from sand paper towards the bottom. Its a single trigger. Please tell me more info, and prices if you can, below are some pictures.

    Hello Gunemdead...

    The information your grandfather came up with during his research was close, but not quite accurate.

    Your old Winchester is indeed a Model 36, but they were only produced from March 1920 to 1927, and the total quantity manufactured was 20,306. The Model 36 was based on the Model 1900/1902 single-shot .22 rimfire rifles (patented by John M. Browning in August of 1899). It is chambered for 9mm Long Shot, 9mm Short Shot, and 9mm Ball cartridges interchangeably. The second picture shows that the stock has seen some rough treatment during its lifetime. Still, it is probably worth $300 - $400 to the right collector.
