colt 22 diamondback info
so that a new topic doesn't start in an existing thread, i'll start it here. why are diamondbacks so expensive? i owned one years ago, a nickle 4" and it shot well. i never did like colt cyl releases. it was a pain to pull those things back and would wear my finger out. i prefer the s&w type where its pushed away. please give me some insight to why the high cost. thanks!

I have a 6" blue and I guess they are collectable because of the quality of construction. I have never thought they were that accurate. As I remember, the barrels are actually rifled for 22 magnum. I have a Colt Officer's Special that is a lot more accurate. I do believe that my 6" K-22 S&W is more accurate. I admit that I love D frame Colts. I have a 38 Diamondback and several Colt Detective Specials,an Agent and the first new pistol I ever bought was a Colt Cobra in 1961. 0 -
The .22 DB's are usually a bit more expensive than the .38SP just because they didn't make as many. The prices are outrageous. I picked up a nice "S" series 4" .38SP (1981) in mint condition for $575. That was a good deal. Most people are trying to sell these right up there with the Python prices. 0 -
The 6" nickel .22 caliber version was produced only in 1979. Aprox 2000-2300 were manufactured. 0 -
I've got a 4" DB .22lr/.22mag that I use for hunting squirrels and every now and again will pot shoot at a ground hog. Love it, never had a problem and is very accurate - as far as my old eyes will call accurate.
