Win Model 12 prices

What's the going rate for a Winchester Model 12 Featherweight in 12ga with a improved choke? The gun is in about 90% condition and is a plain field model.

I have the opportunity to buy a Winchester Model 42 this weekend also. The gun is in about 95% condition and is also a plain field model, any idea of what it's worth?

Any info will be greatly appreciated.[:)]

    Hi Win M12,

    Not an expert at this but using the Blue Book of Gun Values latest edition as a reference.

    The Model 12,standard grade, featherweight, 90% condition is listed at $350.00.

    The Model 42 was the first slide action specifically chambered for the .410 bore. Value is really tough to know. Some more information would help to assess value such as 2.5 inch chamber, pre-war manufacture, solid rib or vent rib since these features all add premium to the shotgun. For the standard Model 42 in 95% condition (no premiums) $1000.00 is the Blue Book value.

    There are really some experts on the Forum who know much more about this than I. They can provide some more insight.

    Win M12: From what I've seen on Feather Weights, $350-$450, with an IC choke, maybe a little more, that's the rare one.

    As far as the 42, barrel length and choke, are important!! Post war and pre-war too. Generally from what I've seen here and other places, $800 and up!! Wood condition and originality are important!! I saw a real nice pre-war, 28 in. barrel with a Full choke, the guy was asking $1100, but it had the last style butt stock. So it wasn't worth it. Be carefull reblues can fool you!!

    The 42 is at a auction this weekend so I have only seen pics of it.[:p] I plan on going and if it goes for the right price I'll be bringing it home.[8D] I saw some 42's in a gun shop over by Green Bay Wis and none of them were under a $1,000.
