are you saying you can move the barrel back and forth 1/8" after the cap is fully tigh?

yes, The barrel hit the reciever, then tighten the mag cap nut and then you can pull the barrell back and forth about 1/8"..... If anyone has a 1300 take a look where the magazine tube is in the reciever, mine shows the serrations of the press fit out about the same amount the barrel moves..... Im thinking the mag tube moved out of the press fit..

WHAT COUNTRYGUNSMITH IS REFERING TO IS THE MAGAZINE THROAT, THIS IS A PLASTIC 'SHOE' THE MAGAZINE FITS INTO. IF THIS IS BROKEN OR IMPROPERLY INSTALLED THE MAGAZINE TUBE WILL GO TOO FAR FORWARD CAUSING THE PROBLEM YOU HAVE. BEST IS TO HAVE A GUNSMITH CHECK THIS AS THERE ARE SEVERAL VARIATIONS DEPENDING ON WHEN THE SHOTGUN WAS MADE.

with out taking the gun apart. The mag throat appers to be intact. it is flush with the reciever and the mag tube appers to be flush with the throat... is that the only piece that holds the mag tube or is it a press fit also? thanks

yes, this piece of plastic is what holds the magazine tube in (it may have splines for alinement). to remove the mag. tube strip the action, place the mag. cap on the mag. tube and tap the mag. cap with a mallet back towards the rear of the action. after about 1" of rearward movement you will be able to remove the feed throat.

Mike, guess what you were right. I guess someone was in there before and missed putting on the throat by one ring. Now I just need to get the parts and figure out to press it back in.
    Thanks Dace
