Welcome to the forum; we are always happy to have new readers.

The term "pre-ban" does not apply to the SKS rifle; it was never listed by the Gun Control Act of 1968 as a "semi automatic assault weapon".

It's possible (but illegal) to convert many semi-automatic firearms, including the SKS, to "semi automatic assault weapon" configuration, by adding certain items such as a folding stock and/or detachable magazine. This gets complicated, but the easiest way to keep your gun legal is to leave it as it came from the factory.

???? the GCA of 68 is exactly what regulated import of the Chinese SKS rifles and is the reason they were sold without bayonetts on them but with the lug... no sporting purpose to the bayo according to the ATF...

the ban expires in two weeks. after that, I dont think it really matters much.

Whenever you find a man who says he doesn't believe in a real Right and Wrong, you will find the same man going back on this a moment later.

wrong. AW ban has nothing to do with it. There are many other laws that govern import/retrofit of firearms.
