confused by caliber
I am looking at a T/C Encore barrel that reads 7.08 mm. Could someone tell me about this caliber and how it compares to a 7-30 waters? I cant believe it could be 7mm Mag.

The barrel is most likely chambered for 7mm/08, which is a commercially available cartridge based on the .308 case necked down to 7mm.
The fact that it is marked like that makes me wonder who chambered the barrel, and if it was done correctly...

7 Waters vs 7-08 is no harder (or different) than 30-30 vs 308Win. Figgure a honest 400fps faster, with bullets of the same weight, from the 7-08/308Win. 
Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.0 -

I've got a 7mm/08 in a Winchester featherweight for deer. AWSOME round and with Hornady Light Mags it approaches a 7mm Rem mag.
