    Hello Andy...

A fluted barrel weighs less than an otherwise identical barrel of the same size, and it retains its strength and rigidity through the design of the flutes. When packing a rifle around all day on a hunt, those several ounces saved by the fluted barrel are perceived as being very advantageous.

Supposedly they also increase the surface area of the barrel increasing the cooling rate allowing for faster repeat shots.
Personally, I think the best thing is that they simply look cool! [:D]

    All of the above ...

    - Lower Weight
    - Quicker cooling
    - Custom look

If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!

Have several barrels with the flutes now.

Can guarantee - there IS a difference is the cooling rate between fluted and non-fluted.

    heavyiron,

I would be very interested to read your documentation regarding the "improved harmonics". Links, reports, books, whatever you have to support your statement.

    Thanks in advance.
