SKS and the Folding Stock

I wouldn't do it! It's not worth getting dinged for a felony just to look cool.
I think the cut-off date of manufacture for SKS's with folding stocks was 1989, but I'm not sure. If your SKS dosen't have the bayonet lug (or a bayonet) it was imported after 1989.

The sunset of the Clinton crime bill dosen't apply to SKS's, only domestic folding/collapsing stock models like AR's or DSA's FAL's, etc. You can get a pin from ATI to lock the stock in the open position, and then it would be legal.

    Just my humble opinion.

If your sks has had the bayonet lug removed at the time of importation, putting a folder on it is illegal. DONT. it is very hard to tell you about folding stocks on sks. there is so much misinformation out there, that i doubt if anyone really knows.Advance Technology Does make a folding to fixed kit, for just this ocassion!!!I can help you with this. hatchettman2003@yahoo.com

First off, I find no value in a folding stock on a 'long' military rifle, its too cumbersome even folded. A folder on something shorter, maybe so.

I moved the rest of my post to the political forum.

If we do not hang together,
We will most certainly hang separately.

    Hi DBV,

I don't know the answer to your question because I always get confused about this issue. I have a folder on my SKS and I like it! Talk about some rock and roll. Anyway mine was purchased before the AWB and I have removed the bayonet.

You can find ATI products on a large number of websites. The two I use the most because they are reasonably priced and if I have trouble they are easy to work with is:

    www.midwayusa.com
    www.cabelas.com
