High Standards info needed

If it's factory?, it's probably a special order gun.
Post on Jim Spacek's site, you might get lucky and somebody would know about it? Or perhaps it's been discussed already and it's in the archives.

I don't believe that the 8" bbl. is factory.
My thought is that the long barrel is a well made after-market with the knurled piece being a thread protector.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0 -

I'm not real familiar with those newer Hi Standards, but I can tell you that they did not make an 8" barrel. I would make sure that the gun is not someones attempt to silence the pistol. I would sure want to take that nut off the end before I bought it. If you do buy it, please post any more info you can get.

Hello The pistol is one that has a barrel takedown that was discontinued late 1951. As stated these had factory barrels of 4 and6&3/4 inch. quote:"PRAISE THE HARDBALL GUN" 0 -
save jim spacek the time. ask me. its too much. let it go. its a 100/101 series new haven gun. it not a pushbutton, its dovetail takedown. the rails use to wear and cause left right play in the bbl to frame match up. the 102 series corrected the problem. looks like the 4.5" bbl is what belongs on the gun and someone attached a home made or aftermarket bbl on it. this model gun was known for a rotten rear sight. an elevation screw only lifted a corner of the sight causing it to tilt. RULE OF THUMB: the further you go back in the hi standard family tree, the MORE problems you will encounter. remember, they perfected the guns in the 102 103 104 and 106 & 107 series based on customer suggestions. everything they did was to give the customer the absolute best, and they achieved that for 50 years. unlike another gun i know that hasnt gotton any better in 50 years. no names mentioned but made in conn. too. hope this helps.
