At 95% I have it figured to be worth about $380. Appears to have most of the desireable features for a compact CCW 45 1911 type, and Springfield generally has a good reputation.

He told me it sells for $530.00 plus tax brand new , Is
this about right ........... he has two six round clips
for it ............ What would a good trade price be now,
with it being used and bout 95% .........
Thanks

Sells for and value are 2 different things. I don't have a access to a blue book. And don't want to post too many times here to lock you up but you have to figure in the resale of his gun into the picture.
If you are a dealer, you are going to loose on that deal. There is no profit to be made on his gun. Even in an Even trade your would loose, becasue you would have to resell his gun at cost. Not many are going to pay new gun prices for a used gun. Now maybe you would be making some on the rifle, if you got it for less recently, and you may be ok.
Now if this is a trade between friends who don't get dealer prices, comes down to personal preference.

One of the things I always checked is the feed ramp area, especially on 1911 style guns. It looks like he's done some "custom" work and may have done some grinding and polishing on the feed area. I've seen inexperienced guys grind/polish so much metal off, the gun would not reliably feed anything any more. And there was not much that could be done about putting the metal back. Since I felt responsible to offer some sort of satisfaction gurantee, even on used guns, I would always visually check them out before taking them in trade.
With seeing only the pictures you post, I would offer him an amount based on my inspection. I would tell him that since I offer gurantees, I want to check his gun for reliability. I would ask him to send the pistol first, and then if I was satisfied I would finish the deal.
If he is trading becsuse the gun has problems, he will refuse this procedure.
My humble 2.5-cents worth,
Rafter-S
P.S. Where I'm from, used Springfield pistols are not the most desirable of inventory...even though Springfield makes a good product. They don't move as quickly as Sigs, Glocks, Colts, Brownings, etc.0 -
So what did ya do?
