Accuracy/Range of Saiga 308????
I was looking at a Saiga rifle in 308 today and was wondering just how accurate they would be at the ranges made theoretically possible by the 308 round--300-400 yards.
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

They are surprisingly accurate. I shoot at metal gongs at 200, 300 and 400 yards and do pretty well! They are a CHEAP, reliable, accurate, rifle and I have one in 7.62x39 and one in 308.

It is, I believe, a sporterized version of the basic AK platform. Even the military sniper rifles made from the AK are not know to be the tack drivers that the US bolt action sniper rifles are. The AK sniper rifles are mostly used on the battle field where any hit is good enough because it takes more people to care for the wounded then for the dead. I doubt that the sporter version will out preform the military sniper versions. So if accuracy is what you want you probably should just get a good bolt rifle. If the semi auto appeals, just make your range expectation match the rifle when you find out what it will really do. All of my AK have always been good out to 250yds and I've never felt that I had to push them farther. 0
