Choosing a scope Weaver V ,SuperSniper or Sightron
I am picking a scope for a flat top AR-15 with a 24 inch barrel.I am limmited to a max of $350.00 I have narrowed the field down to these three
1.Weaver V series 6-24x42 mil dot AO TT
2.Tasco's Super Sniper 20x42 AO TT
3.Sightron SII 6-24x42 mil dot AO TT
Of the three I listed would anyone recomend one above the rest and why?

Oddly enough, I put my preference in the same order that you listed the scopes. The Weavers I like for the brand reccognition and experience I have had with them over the years, as well as the fact that they are known for good product support. All around excellent optics in my opinion. The NEW Tasco SS is nice and the main reason I like it is the fixed power and general simplicity. The Sightron's I have had little experience with but the few I have used seemed to have a little less light transmision than I would like.
Any way you go, they are all good products and short of the Schmidt&Bender route I think you will do well for the money with any of the 3. Still personally like the Weaver though!

Depends on your purpose for the rifle. If you are going to try to shoot at say 100yds,..then a straight 20x scope will be a PITA. But,..if you are going to only shoot say at 300yds and farther,..then a straight 20X (super Sniper) will be great. Another advantage of the S/S scope is that it has tactical turrets. But if you are not a shooter who typically "clicks" to his target,..then that is of little consequence.
The Weaver glass on the Grand Slam series is far better,..so look at those if you wish to go with a variable power scope. BUT,..also take a good hard look at Burris FFII and Signature series for that price. I have 3 and they are are superb products.
why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

Only familiar with the Grand Slam. Have many other scopes, but I believe it lives up to all the hype it is getting. 0
