Loading a Muzzleloader?

Hi everyone.
I have a 50 cal. cva inline muzzleloader with a scope which I bought used last hunting season. I had the scope bored sighted back then also. I took it out this week to get it ready for the new hunting Season. When I shot it a few times I have no clue where my shot went. Could it be I'am loading the Pyrodex wrongly? I believe I loaded it with Black side down? Just making sure before I head to get sighted again.

    Sorry, but I only have traditional type muzzleloader, so I'm not familiar with inlines. What distance were you shooting at? Try moving closer to your target & then adjust your sight setting. After getting on paper, move back farther.

    I Doubt I was further than 60 feet back using the scope. Even my buddy didn't see the shot anywhere behind our target, Which would have been obviously seen hitting into a large open mountian.

    Are your scope rings & bases tight? Any movement at all? If they are tight, it could be a scope problem. You could try removing the scope & use the iron sights to see how your rifle groups.
    Also, were you using two pellets or three? You could try a different load & see what happens. Other than that, I don't have much to offer.

    The black side is true black powder, used to help ignite the charge. Hence, it should be facing the breech. As to where your shot went, I don't know what to tell you, other than shoot again. Good luck.

    BORESIGHTING WILL USUALLY GET YOU ON THE PAPER AT 25 YDS. . MOST TIMES THE WINDAGE IS PRETTY DARN CLOSE , ELEVATION CAN BE OFF CONSIDERABLY . THIS IS DUE TO THE SCOPE HEIGHTS IN RELATION TO THE BORE VARIES GREATLY . GENERALY THE HIGHER THE SCOPE THE LOWER YOU WILL BE . TRY AIMING HIGH THEN LOW , CHANCES ARE IT WILL BE SHOOTING LOW. DO CHECK YOUR RINGS AND BASE . THE BLACK SIDE DOE'S GO DONE , ALSO BE SURE TO SEAT YOUR BULLET DOWN TO THE PELLETS . NO AIR GAP .
    CLEAN EVERY 2-3 SHOTS FOR BEST ZEROING .

    BTW INLINES CAN BE TRUELY BORE SIGHTED LIKE BOLT ACTION RIFLES. REMOVE NIPPLE AND/OR BREECH PLUG AND BOLT IF NEEDED . THEN LOOK DOWN THE BORE FROM BEHIND, FIXING ON A POINT .THEN ADJUST SCOPE TO THAT POINT .

    How many pellets are you using?
    What projectile and or sabot are you using?
    Something is bad wrong to be off paper at 60 feet.

    I am using 2 Pyrodex 50's making 100 grain pellets shots. I shot 5 shots and god knows where they went ....Im defenitley shooting in a safe place whith no other around but mountians...

    Try a heavier bullet weight. I have a T/C inline, and had the same problem. I emailed TC and they suggested a 300 grain bullet, I was shooting a 240 grain saboted bullet. Now the 300 grain saboted bullet is shooting 1" groups at 50 yards, I have never shot 100 yards with it. I was about to throw the gun away I was so disgusted with it. Last year I shot an 8 point a 7 point a 3 point and a doe with it. I now kinda like it HAHAHA

    TRY 25 FEET,AND GO FROM THERE,,I'M NO EXPERT,BUT IT SHOULD HELP,,AND LIKE OTHERS HAVE SAID,,MAKE SURE ALL IS TIGHT,,I HAD ONE DO THAT WITH OFF THE WALL SABOTS,,AND SWITCHED TO THE POWER BELT BULLETS,,,BIG DIFFERENCE,,,DONT GIVE UP,,ONCE YOU DIAL IT IN,,THEY ARE NICE TO HUNT WITH,,,,,,,,,JIM
