identify this shotgun

It would unscrew by the mag. tube. Then the barrel and mag. tube would slide down from the receiver, it was dovetailed. Very old. And 12 Ga

    I need to know the make and model of this 16 gauge shotgun so I can list the parts on the auctions. I think it is a Stevens model 520 but I need confirmation. Both tangs are about 2 3/8 inches long. It has been polished and hot blued. The only markings I find are '100616' on the bottom of the lower tang and 'DX1100616' on the left side of the upper tang. Any info will be appreciated.

    hi,it is an O&U,and has some stars and i guess a serial
    number under the wood forearm.

    also.on the upper barrel under the removeable forearm is one
    star and #'s 18:4....on the lower barrel, KS1-375...theres a number
    inside the forearm...11259 than 152 and some kind of an emblem.on
    the plastic butt cover it has an emblem with FABRICA ITALIANA
    ARMI SABATTI . hope that helps.

    Kassnar has been a importer of various firearms for many years.
    Rifles, shotguns and many different types of handguns, you name it, they've sold it. All of the stuff, to my knowledge has been utility grade, i.e. your not going to get enough money to retire on.

    "FIAS" is Fabbrica Italiana Armi Sabatti, of Brescia Italy, a Italian firearms manufacturer who has made rifles, pistols & shotguns. The quality of your over/under is probably? pretty decent if Sabatti made it.

    Welcom to the forumn jogun.
    You may or may not have the one(Sabatti) ruff-snow was refering to. Unforunatly either way the refinishing of the wood dented the value. I'm sure who ever did it or paid to have it done thought that the gun would stay with them or in the family in which case pride in the appearance and ownership out weighed the collector's value. Some people would rather have a great gun looking good rather than having a great gun in original condition that will be worth $$ and at the root of a family arguement after they're gone. Hopefully the one that I and my nine year old boy refinished will just get handed down and down, never sold to make money on and end up buying a modern "better" piece of ??? of a gun.

    Value on such a shotgun is a tough call Jogun. Sabatti has been around since 1760, but in recent years has produced only very inexpensive shotguns for others. Krassner has imported from Italy and Spain, all utility guns. There is no collector interest and so the aftermarket is as shooters only. Considering the refinished stock and history, I would hazard a value not over $150. It will be worth far more to keep a shotgun that has been with you 35 years, than anything you could get by selling it. Sorry it is not a rare treasure worth a fortune, but I am sure it is a treasure to you.
