beretta 6.35mm ??

Friend given a Beretta handgun labelled BREVET GARDONE V.T. (ITALIA). Told it was made in 1952 (serial no. 611xxA). marked also as 6.35mm
Any value to this handgun?

    Depends on the condition. May be a Bantam. One shown on the GB auction today for $189. It also may be the model just before the Bantam. My Bantam shows made in 1957 but has a much lower ser # than yours. I seem to remember the model # of the preceding model was 318. I ran mine on GB for $150 but got no takers. Hope this helps.

    Hi Fun Daddy and John Carr,

    Folklore suggest the .25 Beretta is the original James Bond pistol, the one that fit so unobtrusively in a suede shoulder holster under his left arm in those form fitting tuxedos. Later he went to the PPK and then the Walther 99, hard to hide that under any arm. ;-)

    I have trouble telling the 318 from the 418, and don't know a Bantam from a Panther. I call the model with the convex grip safety a 318 and the model with the concave grip safety a 418. I know that's not accurate but it gives me something to chew on. In fact the 318 probably is the preceeding model that had no "cocked" pin indicator on the rear of the slide. When I see one of those I'll buy it.

    Beretta's 1919 Patent produced exceedingly handsome pistols and the .25's are my favorites in the vest pocket category. My nickel "318" dated 1947 is sn 654xx4 and my two tone alloy "418" dated 1954 is sn 886xxA. Their big brothers, the pocket sized and equally handsome 1934 .380 and the 1935 .32 begat the 1951, then the 92 line. Quite a family. It pays to have good genes!
