22 Finish
Well, I was cleaning my cousin's 22 and he had some rust. So we got out this rust & blue remover. But it stripped the paint off!
Now, I don't rememer the brand of the gun. All I do know is that it's black. What's the most common finish for 22 rifles?

Hello I am sorry to say your rifle was in all probability "BLUED" this is what you removed when you used rust and blue remover. now your only choice is to reblue . You should have used oil and 0000 steel wool sorry for the bad news. Karl 0 -
But, the whole metal part of the gun was dark black. And ever since the first time I saw it, it was black. Blue is a bad thing right? So then why should we reblue it? I'm not arguing with you, I'm just a little curious.

blue is figure of speech. sometimes its black. tell us the name of the gun and we can tell the type finish right off. 0
