If it is a dove tail it might be pressed in with the set screw just for extra security. It will probably have to be tapped out if it is dove tailed.

loosen the set screw up and tap the sight out , I have had some that are very tight , I have also found that some times they will come out one side easier than the other , so if you haven't been able to get it to move one way , try tapping it out the other side , usually i use a brass rod and hammer , put the gun on a good hard bench with a little padding in between and tap away

The rule-of-thumb I always learned for anything dovetailed or pinned was to remove left to right...install the opposite.

That only works on Winchesters... a Ruger could care less which direction you beat on it[:D]

    Josey...

I hope you realize that I was just interjecting a bit of humor into this string (and I just can't seem to ever pass up any opportunity I get to yank Hangfire's chain a little... apparently I was more successful in that endeavor than I anticipated... I also got Bobski too[:D]

In all seriousness, if you are having trouble with it, give Ruger a call... they have a real nice bunch of trained Gun Monkeys (service department) that can talk you through it[^].
