.318 or .323 Mauser???
I see a lot of 8mm mauser ammo advertised for low, low prices. But without asking the company advertising them is there anyway to know they are offering the .318 or the .323 bullet diameter?
And I have read enough to know not to shoot the .323 in a .318 barrell, but what about shooting .318 in a .323 barrell. Aside from poor accuracy any other problems to expect?

The German Army went to the .323 diameter spitizer bullet in 1905. All the other users of the military 8mm Mauser Cartridge had changed by the end of First World War.
It's highly unlikely you will ever run across .318 diameter military ammo in shooting quantites, other then in the hands of a collector.
To the best of my knowledge, the only source for .318 diameter ammo for many years has been the minimal amount made for the old commerical Mausers that are still around.

thanks guys. I have a quantity of Paskistain 1977 8mm military ammo and because of my poor measuring devices I could not accurately measure the bullet diameter to determine if it was .318 or .323 but now I will assume it is .323 and also get a more professional measuring device.
Wonder what a good digital one costs?

You should be able to get a fair pair of calipers for under $75.00
Harbor Freight Tools has good deals on this kind of stuff all the time. Check this one out...it's not top of the line but should suffice for the job.
