Bersa or Firestorm

Is anyone familiar with either one of these brands in a 22 cal. I have seen numerous Firestorms but no Bersas. What is the quality of either one? I have fired the Bersa in 380, and found it to be an excellent shooter, but have no experience with a Firestorm. I thought that I read that they were merged into the same company along with Llama. Thank you in advance for all replies.

    i USED to have a firestorm govt 1911 it fell to peices after 100 rounds through it[xx(]

    With the lower cost guns the metals tend to be softer and thus wear is a factor. Also the quality control in inconsistent, so you can get a good one or a dog. That's been especially true of the Llama's over the years.

    Since your talking 22 cal. I will assume you plan on shooting a bit and would therefore encourage you to save up a few more bucks and buy yourself a Ruger MkII or Browning Buckmark.

    Firestorm is made by a company named Bersa. There are many people that have had good luck with their product. It isn't the fanciest, but the Firestorm I had for a brief time was functional, and reasonably accurate. Extra magazines are very expensive.

    Llama is made in Spain,Bersas in Argentinia.They are imported by the same company,not made by the same company.

    The Firestorm 380s and 22s are made by Bersa in the same factory as the ones sold under the Bersa name.I have a Bersa 380 and it is a well made firearm,it is .inexpensive not cheap.If I were to do it again I would buy the Firestorm version because here in CA the Bersas are usually dou tone with hooked trigger guard and the Firestorms can be had all black with a rounded trigger guard,better for concealment.

    Guns made by Bersa are some of the best buys out there right now.

    The first 45 auto I bought was a Firestorm, it was cheap and had a lifetime guarantee,.... how can you lose? It had a simple problem early on. I sent it back and it came back 'fixed', but it had the same problem. My favorite 'smith' said he would not touch it, but he showed me how to fix it. Now after over 1000 rounds it is so worn it feels like you could cycle the slide by shaking it hard. However, the barrel/bushing/frame mating is the tightest point on the gun, and it will still shoot in the black. I still would not recommend buying one, and I think I got a good one. I bought a tuned up Springfield Armory about 8 months after I bought the Firestorm when I got some windfall cash. I should have waited (sound familiar). After 1000 rounds it still feels nearly new.

    The Ruger auto 22 pistol in the 22/45 and Mk II versions have been great pieces for me. I've heard some bad-mouthing of Rugers auto-pistols, but that is not the same as the 22's they have made for many years.

    I thought at one time that 'anybody can make a 22 pistol', but I was wrong. If you get a good Firestorm, it may not wear out in 22 caliber as quickly as my 45 did. It may be a good buy, but it would have to be very low priced for me to try it.

    I have a Bersa thunder 380. That gun always fires, never jams and is pretty accurate. I also own a Walther P22. Also a fun gun to shoot but will jam with cheap ammo. Both are accurate and for the most part reliable.
