NFA rules concerning AR-15 and AK-47
Can I legally convert my AR-15 or AK-47 to fully automatic? If so, what parts can be changed out? Is there a website with information?
Rifles in question are Colt AR-15(SP1) and Bulgarian Arsenal SLR-95.
Thank you,
Chuck Currie

The only way you could convert your AR-15 to full auto is if you bought a registered Drop-in-auto-sear (DIAS). These are little pieces of metal that with some other full auto parts will turn your AR into a machine gun. The last transferable DIAS that I saw was $8000. DO NOT order the DIAS you see advertised in magazines as being Pre-Ban for $250 or something. I'm not sure, but I think it is an ATF sting. Before you purchase a DIAS make sure it is a registered transferable sear. If you convert your AR or AK in any other manner, you will be looking at a $10,000 stay at the Federal Hotel for 10 years.
