30-06 action
I have a 30-06 model 70 barrel(not pre-64) and I was wondering on what action should I use it on? Where would be a good source for this action and what kind of $$ are we talking about. Does it have to be a 30-06 action and if not how much modifications would have to be done to adapt a action to a 30-06?

If I had a barrel, and an action (98 Mauser, REm. 721, etc.) I'd consult a good gunsmith about the cost of recutting thread, rechambering, etc. I suspect this might be a expensive venture for you. Have you considered selling the barrel and picking up a barreled action, or complete rifle, of your choosing?

Sell the barrel to someone who has a model 70 that he wants to rebarrel and buy a 30.06 .You can get a Remington ADL. Howa, Savage or other cheaper than you can buy an action and have the barrel installed. 0 -
the only action this will fit as is, is a m-70 win. the threads can be recut for a small ring mauser (turkish m-98 comes to mind) but it will have to be a long action (not m-93/95/96). or possibly a saveage super sporter (m-40/45). best is to sell this here or e-barf and buy a complete rifle. you should get $50 +- for a used barrel in good cond. 0
