I was wondering about Bayard sxs 12 ga. used apparently by the Australian Light Horse. That's all I've been told and I'm wondering about the facts and current interest ie. collectors value. Anyone?

  Interesting story, but you better have positive provenence. And even if you do, I haven't a clue what it would mean value-wise. Only when a piece has a distinct history involved will value increase. So... If this isn't the very shotgun that was used to singlehandedly sink a Japanese sub just off the Great Barrier in WW2, then I expect I'm pretty close to being correct.
  
  Bayard is a Piepher brand name. A utility gun 100 years ago and not much else... Then or now. I'd expect a hammergun of damascus-type construction. Considered unsafe to shoot unless inspected by a competent smith, and then only with proper black powder loads.
  
  Unless the gun is VERY special the value (selling price) will be disappointing I fear. My guess is that you'll be lucky to turn $200.00.

  Thanks again Nord! I haven't got it yet, but apparently it comes in the rifle? shotgun bucket of the LightHorse. but it is obviously the provenance that is of value, not the gun. That's all I needed to know. i owe you a beer(s).
