anyone use the Simmons Whitetail Expedition scope?

Has anyone used the Simmons Expedition scope? I was thinking of that scope or the Nikon Prostaff?

    EVERY SIMMONS SCOPE THAT I'VE HAD(5)I'VE TAKEN OFF AND THROWN AWAY! THEY EITHER WON'T FOCUS OR THE CROSSHAIRS SHIFT FROM RECOIL(.223). THE FOCUSING PROBLEM WAS ON 3-9 VAIRABLES, FOCUS ON 3 POWER AND AT 9 POWER IT'S OUT. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND YOUR FRUSTRATIONS AND GO WITH A LEOPOLD.[:)]

    All my rifles carry Simmons Aetec models and carry zero up to my 340 Weatherby without shift ar focus. I've replaced Redfields, B&L Weaver and Leupolds with them and have never regreted one time.

    Simmons Aetec ,excellent scope for the money.I've had mine since they first came on the market.

    The Simmons is on my son's .243.
    Focuses fine and has proven to be accurate.

    I've owned ONE Simmons scope. Whitetail something-or-other model. It couldn't stand up to the recoil of .30-06 Spr. Shots were being thrown ALL OVER the place at 75 yards with a Remington 700. I got rid of it with a QUICKNESS.

    I don't know much about the Aetec. However, I can speak for the Tasco World Class scopes. My hunting friend in Nebraska has one on his Weatherby (.300 WBY MAG). He's been using it for a few years now and he takes deer at 300+ yards every year.

    Go with a Zeiss Conquest. They are excellent for the money as long as you stay in the 3-9x40 catagory. They get spendy from there.

    I have looked through them compared to my Swarovski and my Schmidt & Bender and not a noticable difference.

    I know a guy who sells them very reasonable. Let me know if you want his info.

    I've owned a number of Simmons Whitetail Classic scopes. Two so far have died, sent back and been replaced for minimal cost to me. They were replaced with the expedition. So far they seem to be holding up, but I wouldn't be planning anything more then range time for them. Hunting trips get either a Leupold or the new Burris. I picked up one to the new Burris fullfield II scopes with balistic plex. It's great, $200 + ship with a 20x50 spotting scope included. I turned around and sold the 20x50 for $65 making the fullfield II a great bargin. I think that several places still offer this package.

    I would have to agree with zink. I have a Simmons ATV 4.5-14x40 on my rem 700 in .308 and it holds true for 1/2" groups @ 100m.

    Before that it was mounted on a savage 110 in .308 that I have since sold. I've been using this scope for about 5 yrs. and have had no complaints.
    I also have other simmons scopes that I am very happy with. When I go to the range, I can usually see my P.O.I. more clearly than the spotter with a Leupold spotting scope. go for the Simmons, unless you're just aching to spend a ton of money[:D][:D][:D]

    You can't beat them for the price and warranty.

    As with most of the respondents here, I've had bad luck with Simmons scopes, primarily with failure to hold zero under any recoil. Switched to Leupold and have never had a problem.
