870 express Vs. Wingmaster

Hello.
Looking to get a Remington pump for my Lady. I was looking at 870 express, magnum and the Wingmaster. I let her try my BT 99 on trap range and now she wants her own gun. She doesn't like O/U or monotrap (brake action) so out of semi autos and pump she chose an 870 Wingmaster. The gun fits he good and she likes it over the 870 express.
Now what's the difference between the Wingmaster and the express and magnum?
1) Is the Wingmaster better made them 870 express. (Besides the better wood)
2) Does wing master come with 3" chamber.
3) What choke should I use on it's 28" barrel to make it suitable for trap shooting
4) How much a 12 ga 28" barrel Wingmaster cost. My local gun shop wants 499.99 for it

    The wingmaster just has a better fit and finish than the express (and as you know the wood is walnut on the wingmaster). Functionally they are pretty much the same (the wingmaster's I've seen have always had a smoother action than the express). If she likes the wingmaster, get her the wingmaster. The 870 is a great shotgun and the WM's just are a lot prettier, smoother gun. From what I can find with my limited wholesale catalogs, $499 isn't too bad a price. I got a WM about 15 years ago and paid $310 for it NIB and that was just regular wholesale price (in other words, they've gone up a lot in the last decade or so) Near as I can tell with my limited access to wholesalers your shop's probably paying $425-450 for the gun. I think all the 870's now are 3in except maybe trap guns.

    Yes, the Wingmaster IMO, is a much better gun all over. Yes they do make a magnum 3 inch. 499. uhhh to much. unless its a trap 870/ta I believe. nambu

    They shoot the same, you can get either in a magnum chambering, just check the reveiver on the express, and it'll say if it is or not.

    For trap, I usually use a mod choke, which is what it'll come with.

    Buy her the Wingmaster though. After all, if she shoots with you and wants her own gun, she's a keeper, so get her the best.

    Runs about $450-500. Look around here for one, cause you can sometimes find a bargain.

    I just bought a 20-gauge 870 Wingmaster in a LW magnum for my 14 year old son's birthday. Caution--Not all wingmasters are 3-in capable. I had to look around wahile to find one. I found this one on GB--$320 +FFL. Perfect shape--ran 3 boxes of shells through it over the weekend at the skeet range--he loves it. Like the others said, the Wingmaster is a little better quality--walnut and the action seems a little tighter than my 12-ga 870 Express, but they are both fine shotguns.
