winchester pre 64

i have seen the new winchester rifle (model 70) and i've seen the winchester pre 64 rifles. whats the difference and why is the price difference so much higher for the pre 64?

  Are the pre-64's better than the current 70's? You'll likely get strong response on both sides of that coin, though I suspect the passions to run to the pre-64? Logical? Maybe. Justified? Again, arguments go both ways. I prefer the pre-64's, fit and finish, the mystique, all of that. Are they worth the dollars they command? WEll, they aren't making pre-64's anymore. From there it's pretty much a matter of one ability to fathom the mind of the collector that places extreme value on the rare and hard to find.
