military weapons oil??
Bought a box of"stuff" at a flea market and in it was 2 bottles of LSA weapons oil medium.Most of the the lettering has rubbed off but what I can read is; Mil-1-46000R 9150-00-889-3522.Then Bray Oil Co DSA followed by 9 unreadable #'s and M7702 or maybe 7782 .Anyone familiar with this.It's a 4 oz olive drab plastic squeeze bottle.The price was right and the guy thinks he's got more.Anyone know what I've got here? I believe that the Mil.-Spec #'s are listed somewhere on the net. Sorry, I can't remember where. I would first try military specifications on Google. If you can find it, it will tell you more than you ever wanted to know about the stuff. Are you sure that it is Mil-1 and not Mil-L???

Taperloc I'm not too sure of the lettering as it is rubbed,faded and generally tuff to decipher with my aged peepers.I did try Google and my computer locked-up.Probably "operator error",maybe I'll give it a shot later.Found a magnifying glass and you're right.It is MIL-L46000R

seems to be a lubricating and preservative oil.

What you have is Military weapons oil, still in use today, and common at gun shows. I use lots of it, it is great oil.
I have numerous bottles of it made by both "Bray Oil Co" and "Sowesco".
Your bottle before it rubbed off read:
Weapons Oil medium
Mil-L-46000B
9150-00-889-3522
Bray Oil Company
DSA 600-75-C-1406
M-7702
4 US Fluid Oz
Just about everything the military uses has an FSN or (Federal Stock Number) which is the number starting with 9150.

LSA is great stuff. I know a guy who, when in the Queen's Service, kept a bunch of .30 Browning MG's running all day with one bottle of it. He didn't use the whole 4 oz. bottle either. 0 -
that oil is cheap and plentiful, but its nothing special. i wouldnt pay much more than 2 bucks for a 4 oz bottle, if i even bought it. i would stick with breakfree clp, lubricates just as well as LSA medium and preserves too. LSA seems to be a little thick. 0 -
There won't be any more LSA. One of the ingredient manufacturers went belly up and formula can't be duped so when it is gone it is gone.
I use Mobil 1 Synthetic Motor oil. 0W20, 0W30 5W20. Great on gas operated weapons as it keeps the carbon soft and is easily cleaned.0 -
