HELL HOW DO I TELL IF I HAVE A PRE WAR COLT ACE 22 OR A POST WAR ACE. THE SER. NO. IS 84XX. HAS COLT HORSE ON BACK OF SLIDE, AND PLAIN IVORY GRIPS. ALSO WHAT AMOUNT SHOULD I ASK. THE GUN LOOKS LIKE IT IS 99 PERCENT. THANKS, RAY

  Hello if the serial # is between 7150 and 9000 it was made in 1937 an ACE does not have "FLOATING" chamber a "SERVICE MODEL ACE" does have floating chamber and also has a serial that starts with the 2 letters SM If your unit is SM84xx then it is 1945 . I don't like to give prices without looking at gun BUT $1,500.00 would be a starting price on an ACE if truely 99%. IT could go for twice that with letter from colt if it came with ivory grips. quote:"PRAISE THE HARDBALL GUN"

  Hello per your email request I thought I would post in case someone else wanted infomation It is COLT Manufacturing comp.inc po box 1868 Hartford Connecticut 06144 phone 860/236-6311 attention COLT HISTORICAL DEPT. It is not cheap my last price for the ACE was $75.00 but if this pistol came with IVORY grips it would be rare and well worth the investment. Before you spend the money make sure the slide is the same serial this number should be marked with the serial # part of it above and part below the fireing pin hole on back of slide after you slide out the fireing pin stop. Be careful the fireing pin is 2 piece with the back piece VERY small and short quote:"praise the hardball gun"
