Parker Brothers Shotgun help needed

CHGOTHNDER
Just obtained a PB shotgun in absolutly mint condition and know nothing about it. This is the best description I can give, the person I got it from bought it in 1912 and paid $85.00 for it.

Blued 98%
Ga. unknown
top of barrel - PARKER BROTHERS MAKERS. MEIDEN CONN TROJAN STEEL
under barrel - circle with J.G. inside and a big and small #4
Reciever - PAT'D JAN 18, AUG 16, 1887 OCT 25 1910 AUG 15 1905 and a diamond with the letters O V inside it.

I can figure out the gauge but need to know the model and value if possible, and anything else pertaining to it. Thanks

    According to the s/n you furnished, the gun was made in 1913, and is a very early Trojan grade. As to value, a number of details affect valuation, such as remaining case color, frame size(stamped on the barrel lug), condition of wood, gauge, and barrel length. I'd be surprised if the original purchase price is correct, as Trojans are "utility grade" guns and were priced accordingly. Give us more details and someone can give you an estimate of value.

    There is a sideways letter "U" with a number 2 and the OV stamp again. Whole shotgun is Blued including the frame. All markings are very prominant and all the wood is in excellent cond. 12ga. between the 1 and 2 screws are the words Parker Brothers in script.

    A shame---but all too common. What you have is a refinished "shooter" with the most common frame size and gauge. Depending on barrel length and chokes, 5-$700 in my area. Shoot it and enjoy !
